As we learned on Friday, Taylor Swift officially bought back the rights to her first six albums.
Remember how Scooter Braun snatched them up back in 2019 and she was not having it?
Since then, Scooter sold them to something called Shamrock Capital…and Taylor has been re-recording everything as “Taylor’s Version”… but now she actually owns the original masters too.
She bought them from Shamrock Capital for around $360 million, and in true Taylor fashion, she posted a heartfelt message saying this moment is more about creative freedom than just righting a wrong.
And she now owns her videos and unreleased tracks too!
Now, about Reputation (Taylor's Version)—it's a bit complicated.
Taylor revealed that she hasn't even re-recorded a quarter of it yet. Apparently, revisiting that album has been emotionally challenging for her because it was such a specific and intense period in her life.
She felt that the original captured the essence so perfectly that redoing it might not add anything new.
However, she did hint that the unreleased "vault" tracks from that era might still see the light of day.
So, while a full re-recording of Reputation isn't on the immediate horizon, fans can still look forward to some new content from that chapter.
And that means ALL the signs over the past few years that “Rep TV” was imminent were ALL WRONG!
