Are You Working With Someone Who Is "Task Masking?"

There's apparently a new workplace term going around called "task masking," which is where employees spend a lot of time and effort just trying to LOOK like they're working hard. When, in reality, they're hardly doing ANYTHING.

There’s tons of videos all over TikTok that offer advice for task masking.

It sounds a little corny, but some managers are saying that it's a trend they're seeing…

How do you do it? Some examples…

1. Type furiously and loudly.

2. Walk fast with your laptop to wherever you’re going

3. Make frustrated noises to give the illusion you’re frustrated with work.

4. Call your friend…but use business hand gestures to make it look like you’re talking business.

5. Walk through the office quickly with your cell phone to your ear as if you’re talking business.

If you know someone who is always super busy in your office…they may be task masking.
