Do you watch TV at home with the captions on? I do and I’m so used to it that I basically depend on it now.
According to recent studies, roughly HALF of all viewers use captions most or all of the time, including 53% of millennials and some 70% of Zoomers
(Gen Z).
Some of it is technical Flatter TV’s with inconsistent audio levels and compressed quality on streaming can muddy dialogue… which is why we depend on the captions.
Well, as moviegoers jammed back into theaters this past summer, many found themselves wondering — why aren’t there captions here too?
Theater owners have long argued that captioning is disruptive. But it’s such a trend and so many people use them… would it really bother other people if the captions were on?
AMC has started screening new releases with captions at select showings. So, LA has them…the problem is they are not well-advertised…but they are there and are getting more common.
