This news just came out this week and I’m low-key freaking out about it.
California could become the first state in the U.S. to have a four-day workweek after state legislators introduced a bill that would shorten the current workweek from 40 hours to 32.
One of the authors of this bill, Cristina Garcia is an Assembly Member from right here in Bell Gardens…and she says the mass resignation during the pandemic inspired the bill. She thinking people want a better quality of life.
She points to a study in Iceland and at the company Kickstarter that shows a 4-day workweek leads to an increase in productivity and profits!
And get this… if an employee works 40 hours they would need to be compensated for that extra eight hours by receiving at least time-and-a-half.
The bill would apply to companies with 500 employees or more.
How would you allocate your 32 hours?
Would you rather have Mondays off or Fridays?
