You know when you see a couple and wonder... are they siblings or are they dating? Well, it turns out when people are dating, they're kind of just looking for... themselves.

Couples formed of two people that look alike are pretty common, actually, and they have become the epitome of the freshly-coined dating term: “doppelbangers.”

Of course, the new term is a play on doppelganger, the German word for a nearly identical look-alike. Remember that phase years ago when we all changed our Facebook profile photos to a picture of a celebrity who people dubbed was our doppleganger? Good. Times. Well now there is a trendy phenomenon of dopplebangers among celebrity couples who, when you really think about it, look an awful lot alike.

The term actually originated in the LGBTQ community, as reported by Cosmopolitan. But it certainly has grown beyond since. One example? Oscar nominee Kristen Stewart and fiancée Dylan Meyer who have similar blonde hair, same height, and very similar body frames.

Other favorite celeb couples who happen to fall into this category include Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, who have similar body type and facial features. And I would even argue that Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber have a similar enough look to fall into this category!

Do you think you're dopplebangin’ someone?! I think personally, my husband and I do NOT look alike. I actually feel like my brother and I look alike which is one of the main reasons I could never date anyone that remotely looked like him. And luckily Michael and my brother look VERY different from each other.

I think it would freak me out!

Of course, there is that old myth that we tend to date people who look like our parents... it's all too weird for me!
