I’ve reached that part of the pandemic where I live in yoga pants, a matching sweat suit is considered a fancy outfit, and don’t even get me started on jeans! I truly don't know the last time I put on jeans!
So why are people wearing evening gowns and posting them on Twitter? No... I'm not talking about stars who attended the GRAMMY awards over the weekend.
Turns out they are getting all decked out for their COVID-19 vaccine! Seriously. And I LOVE IT!
I saw this story on Yahoo about Ashlie Atkinson, and she told them she had bought the long green dress pre-pandemic to wear to a later-canceled 2020 event. And since she never got to wear it, she just wanted to celebrate getting her vaccine and wanted to bring some joy to people that have been working long hours!
The replies to Atkinson’s tweet are full of photos of others' vaccination outfits, from dresses to special t-shirts to unworn bridesmaid dress from a wedding canceled by the pandemic. Seeing some of these photos really made me so happy!
How can you NOT smile seeing these happy, dressed up people getting their vaccines and putting an end to this pandemic?!
I am even MORE inspired to dress up and celebrate this big moment after learning that the CDC says fully vaccinated grandparents can hug their grand children. My kids miss their grandparents SO much and I just cannot wait to have them get to hang out together - and stress free - again so soon.
This is the first time in the last year that I really have felt HOPEFUL about this pandemic coming to an end and that is sooo worth celebrating. Once Michael and I are vaccinated and my family is as well, I can't wait to get together indoors and HUG!!
