We're all excited about Los Angeles being represented in the big game this weekend - I'm sure some of us even feel like WE are in the big game this weekend just by association.
But imagine actually working for the team and the facilities they practice and play at. That has to be a whole new level of "WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!" feeling.
Of course the coaches, players and trainers will all be on-hand this weekend in Atlanta. But someone else who is part of the team will be making a very special trip, too. Alfonso Garcia , the team's custodian who keeps their locker rooms and facility clean, got a huge surprise when Brandin Cooks decided to gift he and his son tickets and a trip to Atlanta to see them play.
“Oh, man, Alfonso — the guy is special, man. He keeps our locker room in tip-top shape. He has such a special soul,” Brandin told USA Today . He added, "I just felt like it would be special for him to see that he is a part of this success as well, and I wanted him to be able to be at the Super Bowl with his son to enjoy that.”
Honestly, if you're not crying watching this video, I have to wonder if you even have a soul.
The reason Brandin wanted to invite Alfonso to the game is so sweet. He told Yahoo! Sports “I just thought it would be special for him to understand this is a team and he’s a part of that as well."
And that team will be taking on the Patriots this Sunday in Atlanta. I can't wait to watch and see how our hometown team holds up against Tom Brady and the rest of the team.
I may be a Charger fan, but I can root for our local team this weekend! Go Rams!
