The one and only Ed Sheeran is known for a lot of things - you know, the plethora of hit songs, the loop pedal performances, being an incredible song writer and all - but he used to be known for hardly appearing in, and certainly not starring in his own music videos.
Back for his single "Sing" four years ago, he kind of was the star of his own video... but it was just a puppet version of himself.
And NOW that puppet version is making a come back in his latest video for his new single, "Happier".
The puppet definitely got a little upgrade to look more like current Ed, though. Check it out:
In this new video, the puppet Ed is drinking alone in a bar after mourning the loss of a relationship, and seeing his ex... a woman made entirely of balloons... having a meal with her new man.
It's very interesting watching a puppet be sad over a balloon woman, but somehow Ed manages to make it really fit the song.
Can we also talk about how... happy I am that this song is finally a single?! I have LOVED this song ever since his album was released and it is TIME this song got its moment.
If you're wondering what the puppet version of Ed has been up to in the four years since we last saw him in "Sing" - it turns out Ed has been keeping pretty close tabs on him!
He has been stored in a glass case near a boardroom of Atlantic Records in West London.
Makes sense! It's not really something you just keep on the mantle at your house for fun... that would be a liiiittle creepy.
Now I'm just hoping that in the future we get yet another video with puppet Ed and maybe a female puppet version of his fiance Cherry Seaborn?
That would be INCREDIBLE!
