  • Ava Maybee Cardoso-Smith appeared on Sunday's episode of American Idol, auditioning with a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Lately".
  • Ava impressed the judges - Lionel Richie compared her to Cher, while Luke Bryan said he was "interested to hear and see more". In the end, she got a 'yes' from all three judges to advance to the next round.
  • The 20-year-old Ava already records her own music and has sung the national anthem at a Lakers game.
