Today we celebrate the life & legacy of one of the greatest humans to grace this planet. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. became the spokesman for the civil rights movement in the 1950's & 60's and his ideals and principles have made this place better. No questions asked. Most know the historic march on Selma, Alabama...and we all remember his "I Have A Dream" speech in Washington in 1963.
Before his assassination five years later in Memphis, Tennessee...he was responsible for helping to organize several marches that helped highlight social injustices of the times and he also instilled faith in countless amounts of people who searched for equality in a segregated country. I believe that we need more of what he believed in circulating in the world now, which is why you should know that there are SEVERAL quotes of his that will move your soul. Here are a few of my personal favorites.
๐๐พ The time is always right to do what is right.
๐๐พ If you canโt fly then run, if you canโt run then walk, if you canโt walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.
๐๐พ Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
๐๐พ Whatever your lifeโs work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.
๐๐พ Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
๐๐พ You can kill the dreamer, but you canโt kill the dream.
๐๐พ If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.
๐๐พ I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
๐๐พ A man who wonโt die for something is not fit to live.
๐๐พ Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.
๐๐พ The quality, not the longevity, of oneโs life is what is important.
๐๐พ Forgiveness is not an occasional act, it is a constant attitude.
๐๐พ A productive and happy life is not something you find; it is something you make.
๐๐พ Power without love is reckless and abusive, and love without power is sentimental and anemic.
๐๐พ What good does it do to sit at the counter when you cannot afford a hamburger?
๐๐พ When people get caught up with that which is right and they are willing to sacrifice for it, there is no stopping point short of victory.
๐๐พ We have before us the glorious opportunity to inject a new dimension of love into the veins of our civilization.
๐๐พ I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will.
๐๐พ Never succumb to the temptation of bitterness.
๐๐พ We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence.
