More Sears Locations In Southern California Are Closing!

Many stores have been hit hard during the coronavirus pandemic and it looks like more Sears locations in Southern California will be affected. The latest SoCal Sears stores to close are:

  • Long Beach: 2100 North Bellflower Blvd.
  • Los Angeles: Boyle, 2650 E Olympic Blvd.
  • Orange: Village at Orange, 2100 N. Tustin St.

Transformco acquired Sears out of bankruptcy two years ago, but at least 18 Sears and eight Kmart stores are scheduled to close by mid-April. According to Transformco’s president Scott Carr,

"The company continues to pursue opportunities to create value from its real estate portfolio and to partner with retailers, property owners and communities as part of the ongoing reinvention of retail real estate.”

Long Beach will be hit twice as hard because the Kmart location at 2900 Bellflower Blvd. will also close on April 18th. City Councilman Daryl Supernaw was surprised by this news,

“We just learned about it yesterday. With Sears closing and the Kmart just up the street also closing … that’s a lot of square footage. Our city department will really have their work cut out for them. We’re always hopeful.”

This is the end of an era because the location in Orange is the last traditional Sears in Orange County and it's set to close on April 18th.
