A woman went on a tirade when she was asked to wear a face covering in a Trader Joe's store in North Hollywood. One shopper recorded the whole incident where the woman in the video was upset for being questioned about why she was not wearing a mask. Los Angeles residents are required to wear face coverings when out in public and inside stores to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Another shopper explained the whole situation in a Twitter thread saying it was opening day for the new North Hollywood location when the woman entered the store, took her mask off, and proceeded to roaming the aisles and getting in people's faces while holding an empty basket. It didn't take long for another customer to ask her to put her mask back on and managers to approach the woman asking her to leave. Things quickly escalated as she says she has a breathing problem and throws the empty basket, which you can see in the videos below:
This woman is now telling ABC7 her side of the story saying her reaction was in response to a customer who harassed her for not wearing a mask. She says she "called a Trader Joe's store in Toluca Lake and was given permission by the manager to come in and shop without a facial covering." However, she ended up going to the North Hollywood location where she claims another manager told her "she would make an exception allowing her to buy groceries without a mask on that day only." That's when the confrontation happened and she doesn't regret what she said or did. She said,
"I did what any normal human being, a woman, would do if she was being harassed by a man, not knowing if he's a crazy man, so I started yelling in self defense. Unlike whatever lies they are putting out there, I had no political agenda. I had nothing. They might use whatever else I said later in my anger, it doesn't matter. What happened to me should not be happening to anyone else."
She didn't give any details about her medical condition.
