John Travolta doesn't have the best track record when it comes to knowing people in the pop culture world. Remember when he called Idina Menzel "Adele Dazeem" at the 2018 Oscars?! Well at last night's MTV VMA's, John Travolta paid tribute to the flub when he was presenting the Video of the Year award with Queen Latifah. John had the envelope to read the winner when he decided to hand it off to Queen Latifah to read because he didn't want to mess up the pronunciation.
However, no one realized that wasn't the only thing we needed to worry about with him getting things mixed up. Once Taylor Swift was announced the winner, Taylor walked up on to the stage with the cast from her "You Need To Calm Down" music video, including Ru Paul's Drag Race contestant Jade Jolie. When Taylor was hugging friends in the crowd, Jade was on stage when John thought she was Taylor!
Lucky for us, the cameras caught John trying to give Jade the famous moon man trophy. Viewers watching at home of course caught the hilarious moment quickly tweeting about him basically pulling another "Adele Dazeem" moment. John Travolta proved once again that there's never a dull moment when it comes to him presenting at award shows especially after failing to recognize just one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
The best part was the fact when he was presenting the award, he didn't want to read the envelope to avoid a mishap, but then this happens. Jade Jolie even had some fun with the situation by posting on Instagram.
