Some other countries might say America has “no culture” but if they took the time to get to know us, they might be surprised to find out just how amazing our culture can be.
And also completely bonkers it can be too. Here are some facts that might shock someone living outside the states that will leave the average American thinking ‘yeah I can see that.’
● Homebodies. More than 40% of Americans have never left the country and 54% of Americans have visited 10 states or fewer in their lifetimes.
● Sticking To The Open Road. About 13% of Americans have never flown in a plane. Our preferred way to travel is definitely by car. The Department of Transportation says the average American drives roughly 13,500 miles every single year.
● Lactose Tolerant. The average American consumes 40 pounds of cheese every year. And when we aren’t getting our lactose in that way, we’re probably getting it frozen. The average American eats more than 23 pounds of ice cream each year.
● Hollywood Pride. Back in the distant past of 2019, 32% of adults watched one movie in theaters every month. And you won’t hear a lot of people complaining that the ‘book is better than the movie’ because we aren’t big readers. The typical American reads less than four books a year.
