Extremely Common Grammar Mistakes That Make People Cringe!

Even if you aren’t a complete grammar nazi, you’ve most likely been on the receiving end of a few emails that have been filled with errors big enough to make you cringe.

But you’ve probably sent out just as many of those messages yourself. So here are some of the most common grammar mistakes people make that you should watch out for.

● Everyday vs every day. “Everyday” with no space is an adjective describing something that’s very common. With the space in it, it’s another way of saying each day.

● I vs me. “I” should be used when it’s the subject of a verb like “I typed this sentence correctly.”

● Its vs it's. When you’re writing, if you could replace the “it’s” with “it is” and the sentence still makes sense, you should be using the one with the apostrophe.

● Lie vs lay. Objects “lay.” Non-objects and things that aren’t doing anything to something else “lie.”

● Lose vs. loose. “Lose” is a verb meaning to suffer a loss. “Loose” has two Os and means not tight.

Apostrophes are another thing people cannot seem to figure out. Just a reminder. You slap one of those bad boys into a word if you want to show possession or form a contraction like there’s or aren’t. You never use apostrophes to make some plural.
