You might think the generation that has had Internet access since birth might have loved the shift to working digitally this past year… but you would be wrong. According to a new survey, Gen Z is actually having the most difficult time of any age group when it comes to balancing work and home life since they were combined under one roof. And the numbers aren’t even close.
As far as the older generations go, 75% of Baby Boomers, 68% of Gen Xers, and 73% of Millennials say they’re satisfied with their current work-life balance. Meanwhile, only 45% of Gen Z respondents felt the same. They were also 11% more likely to say they’re dissatisfied with their current situation than any other generation. When you combine these numbers what you find is things really suck right now for Gen Z.
The survey does not go into why there is such a disparity between the young professionals and their older counterparts, but one thing is sure. Video games aren’t helping. While much like every other age group, television is their go-to way to destress after work, but Gen Z plays more video games than any other generation. Maybe it’s time to put down the controller and pick up meditation?
