Hey there.
I'm writing you from the Beverly Hilton. It's Sunday, and I moved back my flight from early this morning until this evening, when I'll fly back. I've been on the West Coast and in LA for some meetings over the weekend, and I took off Friday and will take off Monday for travel, and to adjust from the time and more.
I never used to take time off. I guess I'm learning in this life that we have time off for a reason, and we need to use it... for said same reasons.
Friday, when I landed, I took the chance to go see some friends at Disney's Hollywood Records. Located in Burbank, at the Walt Disney Studios campus, it's always a treat to visit this place... where dreams were imagined, brought to life, animated, made into film... it's hallowed ground in entertainment... where the soul of the most creative people on the planet continues to spark the fire that changes pop culture.
I've been sharing some select photos on Instagram and Twitter... but here, I wanted to share with you some pretty unique and special photos of a pretty special place.
The restored offices of Walt Disney.
I don't need to give you the rundown on Walt Disney. History has handled that. If you don't know, Google it. He wasn't just a muse. He was THE showman. Everything that started with a mouse, and a dream, is at the fiber of what is the #1 entertainment force on the planet.
When he died, Disney's Archives cataloged everything in the office. Down to the last pencil. Down to the last book in the shelf. Down to the ashes in ash trays. From the scripts he was reading to the screenplays... every detail was catalogued. All of it.
And then, they stored it.
Walt's office changed hands over the years, but, over the last few years, the office... was restored by Disney's Archives and Imagineers. What they've done in the space really did bring it back to life... and to see it... to step inside... was, for me, like stepping into the mind of a genius for a moment.
You could feel the presence of greatness. Being in there, in that space... was enough kindle to spark new fires in the dream-space of the mind. It was amazing for the soul.
Enjoy some of these photos I was able to take.
Special thanks to DJ, Nick Bedding... and the amazing Scot Finck and his team at Hollywood Records for allowing me to spend a few moments in the presence of greatness... again. Thank you for the moment. Also, thank you to the Walt Disney Archives team... thank YOU for the moments, for telling the story... and for chronicling the history of how you and your castmates continue to change our culture for the better every day.
#Thankful.
