UPDATE: After we shared this story with him, Jordan Fisher, a member of the Broadway Cast of Hamilton - and your current Dancing With The Stars CHAMP sent a quick video for Joanne... check it out!!!
Fisher played John Laurens and Philip Hamilton on Broadway in Hamilton...
She went to the room where it happens and made her case...
This Montgomery County Public Schools teacher went before the school board to fight for funding for the arts in one of the nation's most affluent school districts this week... and she used Lin Manuel-Miranda's opening song from the culturally impacting Broadway smash HAMILTON to make her point.
Directly addressing the plight of the arts - and cuts to art funding by the very wealthy suburban DC school district - Joanna Chilcoat-Fellows, ripped into a rap, sung to the tune of the musical's opening number, ALEXANDER HAMILTON, making the case for funding with passion and heart.
"... and there's a million things that art can do... support arts now, support arts now," she sang to applause from the board and those in attendance.
It's unclear if her impassioned plea for funding will be met by the district, which is home to some of the best schools in America according to US NEWS and WORLD REPORT, and which also includes some of the most wealthy zip codes in the US, including POTOMAC, BETHESDA, CHEVY CHASE and more, and where a family of four with a median household income of less than $50,000 is considered to be living at the poverty line.
And so... which programs will, ahem, live, or die, at the hands of the school board as the history, with it's eyes on this video, prepares to tell this story....
