Schools are closed pretty much everywhere, and Charter Communications is stepping up by offering free Spectrum Broadband and Wi-Fi for the next 60 days. The offer applies to households where students (including college students) are home due to school closures. According to the company the offer applies to "households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps." You also have to live in a Spectrum service area.
Speaking of businesses helping out …LVMH -- owner of luxury brands Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Tiffany, Christian Dior and more -- announced that they will be using their perfume and makeup divisions to manufacture hand sanitizer for France. “These gels will be delivered free of charge to the health authorities," LVMH announced. Some good employment news …Amazon wants to hire 100,000 people to handle all the online shopping people are doing now that they are staying home. They also said they are increasing pay by $2 an hour through the end of April for hourly employees who work at their warehouses, delivery centers and at Whole Foods grocery stores. Hourly workers in the UK and other European countries will get a temporary raise as well. (CBS News)
