Ellen DeGeneres has taken a stand against her critics on Twitter who slammed her for attending Sunday's Cowboys-Packers game with former President George W. Bush.
Many of her fans were upset about a photo showing her and Bush sitting together in a suite at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Ellen addressed the backlash when she opened her show on Monday explaining that President Bush is a "friend" even though they may not share many of the same views.
She said, "People were upset. They thought, why is a gay Hollywood liberal sitting next to a conservative Republican president?... A lot of people were mad. And they did what people do when they're mad... they tweet." She added, "We're all different and I think that we've forgotten that that's okay that we're all different... but just because I don't agree with someone on everything doesn't mean that I'm not going to be friends with them."
Ellen then shared a tweet from a fan that she loved which read, "Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again." (Fox News)
