1. Super Bowl 53 might have been the lowest-scoring ever . . . but 13-3 was the largest point differential for a Tom Brady / Bill Belichick Super Bowl. All the others were decided by eight or fewer points. The average margin of victory in every OTHER Super Bowl is 15.8 points.
2. Brady wasn't exactly AWESOME last night, but he did orchestrate a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. Brady now has six game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime of the Super Bowl. Nobody else has more than six game-winning drives in the entire POSTSEASON since 1970.
3. The Rams are the second team in Super Bowl history to fail to score a touchdown. The other was the 1971 Dolphins.
4. 27 of the Rams' 60 plays (45%) went for 0 or negative yards.
5. Brady (41) and Bill Belichick (66) are now the oldest quarterback and head coach to win a Super Bowl. Brady passes Charles Haley for the most Super Bowl titles by a player (6). And Belichick ties George Halas and Curly Lambeau for the most NFL championships by a head coach (6).
6. The Patriots won their sixth Super Bowl title, tying the Steelers for the most all-time. All of New England's have come since 2001, within 18 seasons. The Steelers did it in a 35-year span.
7. The over-under for the Super Bowl closed at 56 total points. The teams combined for 16 points. The 40 points UNDER the Vegas total is the most in ANY NFL game in the last 30 seasons.
8. Check this out: The Rams ran ZERO plays in the red zone last night . . . and the Patriots ran ONE. No other Super Bowl has seen the teams combine for fewer than FIVE red zone plays.
9. Rob Gronkowski finished the night with six receptions for 87 yards, and he now has the most catches by a tight end in Super Bowl history with 23. Former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jay Novacek had 17 catches in three Super Bowl appearances.
10. You might remember that Boston also won the World Series in the fall . . . so this is the city of Boston's 12TH championship in 17 YEARS, which is why everyone HATES them so much.
The Patriots won in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, and 2019.
The Boston Red Sox won in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018.
The Boston Celtics won in 2008, and the Boston Bruins won in 2011.
The Red Sox even poked some 'fun' at this by congratulating the Patriots on Twitter , for, quote, "Ending that three-month Boston championship drought."
