BIRDMAN: Put Some Respect on Our Names

The Cash Money boss says the CEOs deserve their props for 50 years of hip-hop.

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • He's not wrong, but what form should this take? It's not like we want to see a bunch of label bosses just standing around on stage during the next Hip Hop 50 tribute.
  • It might be on Birdman to put together his own salute to the CEOs.
  • Folks "behind the scenes" never get the same credit. That's just the game.
  • As a CEO or exec, your thank you is every time you check your bank account.

Birdman wants the hip-hop world to put some respect on his name -- and that of his fellow CEOs.

The Cash Money co-founder took to Instagram on Tuesday, where he spoke on how he feels he and his peers were snubbed during recent Hip Hop 50 tributes. He wrote, “I'm confused about 50 years of hip-hop where they salute legendary artists which are well respected.. Also I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great [and] showed them how to keep hip hop alive should be saluted in a major way. I remember when they said hip hop was dead and we kept it alive. YMCMB 20-plus summers respect our hustle, CEOs kept hip hop alive for real for real.”

Some of his peers pulled up in the comment section, including Quality Control’s P and Snoop Dogg who co-signed his sentiment.
