A study from Emory University found that the more you spend on an engagement ring and wedding ceremony, the shorter the marriage. According to the research, if you spend more than 20 grand on your wedding, you are 46 percent more likely to get a divorce. If you spend between $10,000 and $20,000, you have a 29 percent greater risk of splitting up. Why? Researchers say the cost of expensive weddings can lead to financial stress for couples, which ultimately tears them apart. ( Market Watch )
