Zara Larsson is keeping summer alive with her new album Midnight Sun.

The Swedish pop singer opened up about her fifth studio album during an exclusive iHeartRadio Album Release Party on Monday (September 29). Midnight Sun, a follow-up to 2024's Venus, dropped Friday and features the singles "Pretty Ugly," "Midnight Sun" and "Crush," the latter of which she performed for fans in the crowd and those tuning in to iHeartRadio's Hit Nation station.

Interspersed with live performances of "Wow," from her 2021 album Poster Girl, "Symphony," her 2017 collaboration with Clean Bandit, and "Crush," Larsson spoke more about her new album during a Q&A hosted by iHeartRadio's JoJo and how it has a special connection to her home.

One of her inspirations for the album was how the sun never fully goes away during the summertime in Sweden. She previously explained how she is "proud of [her] Swedish pop heritage," and she echoed the sentiment during the event, telling the crowd how she wants to bring them along into that world.

"I feel like I wanna take you all into the universe of a Swedish summer night, which is where the sun never sets," she said.

Larsson also explained how Midnight Sun is her most personal album yet, pointing out songs like "Saturn's Return" and "The Ambition" that reflect how much she has grown since the early start of her career.

"I started in this industry, or this job, as a child. I was like 14, 15, and now I'm 27, like, I am a grown woman, and there's a lot to say in that," she said. "I wrote it with an amazing group of people who really made me feel like I could just say whatever and be truly 100% myself."

Larsson also confirmed she has big plans for the near future, teasing that she is working on a tour for next spring that will help keep the endless summer days going all year long.
