Ozzy Osbourne 'Breathing On His Own' In The Hospital

After a scary weekend, we have another encouraging update regarding Ozzy Osbourne's health.

The heavy metal icon has been battling bronchitis and the flu since January and was briefly sent to intensive care over the weekend over concerns he had developed pneumonia. By late-Sunday, Ozzy was back in his own room in the hospital and supposedly improving. Sharon Osbourne offered another update Tuesday after returning to her daytime show The Talk.

"He's breathing on his own," Sharon said. "He's overcome by the response he's had."

Ozzy postponed his entire U.K. and European tour after concerns about his illness grew. Days before the postponement, he shared with fans that he coughed so hard he broke a blood vessel in his eye.

Ozzy and Sharon's son Jack Osbourne said last Thursday that his dad was "doing much better," but less than two days later he suffered the setback that landed him in the ICU.

Today, fans can be encouraged that the Prince of Darkness has had two positive health updates in a row. A statement over the weekend by a source close to the Osbournes said Ozzy was expected to be back at home later this week.

"Ozzy's a fighter, and is getting better day by day," a source told The Sun. "The worst is over, he's smiling again, and he can't wait to get back on stage."

The singer has yet to address whether he'll be able to perform his next scheduled show March 9 in Sydney, Australia. His European tour was initially canceled over concerns the constant travel and lack of sleep from touring could lead to pneumonia.
