David Gilmour releases Live at the Circus Maximus. Watch Comfortably Numb

A year after David Gilmour released his fifth album, Luck and Strange, comes an album and film taken from its tour, both of which are out now.

The film, Live at the Circus Maximus, Rome, which was shown in theaters last month, was captured at the ancient Roman chariot-racing course over six nights last September and October. It's available in two-Blu-ray and three-DVD sets with unseen bonus footage and the full The Luck and Strange Concerts album mixed in 5.1 and Atmos (Blu-Ray only).

Normally, a live recording, in this case a film, is usually captured later in a tour. But Gilmour did just 21 shows in four cities -- Rome, London, Los Angeles and New York -- and Rome was first. And that begged the question: Why Rome?

"Well it's Italy. It's Rome. It's beautiful venues. You know, these places have an atmosphere to them which can't help but be contagious. The Circus Maximus, like the amphitheatre in Pompeii, are just magical places. You feel the feet of people walking there over millennia. It has a spiritual air to it." - David Gilmour
