LADWP Helps Organize Free AC Giveaway For Seniors To Keep Cool In Summer

LADWP's Cool LA initiative has helped organize a great event where seniors who can't afford an air-conditioners were able to get one to help stay cool this hot summer.

The Cool LA initiative was able to hand out 600 portable AC units for seniors in need. Along with free AC, LADWP also helped the seniors sign up for discount and bill pay programs so they aren't burdened with a huge bill due to their new AC.

"We've had an overwhelming amount of seniors sign up and they have a need. We are requiring them to be 60 and over and to sign up for our EZ-SAVE program and our level pay program so when they get the AC unit, they can have their bill consistent with level pay," said LaTanya Bogin-Jordan, director of partnership development at LADWP.

LADWP says they are aiming to do more AC giveaways in cities like East L.A. and in the San Fernando Valley. For more information, click here.
