New Program Will Give Some South LA Residents $150 A Month For Transit

According to KTLA 5, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation will be launching a new program to send monthly payments to some residents in hopes to improve transportation in South Los Angeles.

The Universal Basic Mobility pilot is there to provide more clean transportation options by expanding the services in electric vehicle sharing, charging facilities, on-demand shuttles and e-bikes while also funding job training for 200 people working in the electric vehicle and bike maintenance. The $18 million program will give 2,000 South L.A. residents $150 a month for one year so they can spend it on "whatever they need to get around," said Seleta Reynolds, LADOT General Manager.

If you are a South L.A. resident you can sign up at LADOT's website here to get updates on when these services will be available. You can also visit KTLA 5 so get more info on the program.
