Meghan Trainor Talks New Album 'Treat Myself', Nicki Minaj & More!

Meghan Trainor's brand new album "Treat Myself" is finally out and she stopped by the KIIS-FM studios in Los Angeles to talk to JoJo Wright all about it!

Fans have been waiting for a while for this album but it's finally here! Meghan talks about the path to finally get here on album release day:

In the beginning of this album, I was forced to take a break because I had my second vocal surgery. I went to far, I pushed myself too much and I popped my vocal chords again. That was sad and I went through of phase of anxiety and depression because I was silent for so long on vocal rest. I had to speak up and ask for help, which is scary to do when you're in that position, and I got help. I met a lot of doctors and one of my therapists, after I accomplished getting over my anxiety and finding happiness again, she was like "you should treat yourself." And then I wrote a song called "Treat Myself" and I was like my album will be called "Treat Myself".

Meghan explains the songs on the album, which has been in the works for three years, are about loving herself more, there are bops and the love songs that are heartbreaking are not about her, but her older brother's love life.

The first single off the album is a collaboration with Nicki Minaj. People online have said that their collaboration on "Nice To Meet Ya" brought Nicki out of retirement, but Meghan set the record straight that it's not true.

My management started managing her and that tweet was one of the first things [they saw when working with her]. I was like "uh oh!" but it's all good, I think she was doing what she wants. They played her the song, because I asked them to. They warned me if she doesn't like it, she's not just going to be a part of it. And she heard it, and she liked it and recorded this verse that was perfection. I was in pure shock and freaking out because I'm her biggest fan, but it didn't hit me until after the music video that we recorded together. I was balling my eyes out. My mom has footage of it.
