Morgan Wallen made his comeback to the stage at the 2020 CMT Music Awards!
The 27-year-old delivered an intimate, mesmerizing performance of his smash hit single "Chasin' You" during tonight's (October 21) awards show. Encircled by rows of empty glass bottles illuminated by soft white lights, Wallen stood center stage as he cruised and crooned through his emotional guitar tune with smooth vocals and even smoother stage presence.
"Chasin' You" served as the fourth single from his 2018 debut album, If I Know Me. The record would secure Wallen his third consecutive number-one hit on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Additionally, the tune peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and reached the top 20 on the Billboard Ho 100.
The project put Wallen in the running for Male Video of the Year for “Chasin' You (Dream Video)" alongside fellow acts including Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, and Luke Combs. This isn't the first time Wallen has been nominated at the show, as he also received a nomination for Breakthrough Video of the Year for "Whiskey Glasses" in 2019.
Wallen's CMT Music Awards performance marks his first since he was pulled from making his Saturday Night Live debut following his recent controversy.
As fans know, Wallen lost the gig after he was caught on video kissing and dancing closely with multiple women — all without wearing a face mask, neglecting to follow safety precautions amid the ongoing pandemic. (He's since addressed the controversy in a statement.)
