Following a rocking performance from Foo Fighters and iconic performances from years past from some of alternative's biggest bands, Billie Eilish was the perfect ending to this year's iHeartRadio ALTer EGO presented by Capital One with a brand new performance.
Under blue and green lighting — a very Billie aesthetic — Eilish took over the stage with a spellbound set as she performed some of her biggest hits, alongside her brother FINNEAS. Kicking things off with her latest single "Therefore I Am," Billie then performed her 2019 piano-driven hit "everything i wanted," before ending the night with her dreamy song "my future."
Before taking a look back on Cage the Elephant's epic performance during the 2018 ALTer EGO, Billie and FINNEAS talked about how the band has inspired them. Billie explained, "I love Cage the Elephant. They were probably one of the first bands that I was interested in when I was growing up." She added, "'Ain't No Rest For The Wicked' is so good, and also was one of the first songs that really showed me story-telling in songwriting."
FINNEAS echoed, "Cage the Elephant, in particular, tell real stories in their songs, which I think them and many other artists have inspired Billie and I to do that a lot."
Fans have a lot to look forward to as Billie has been preparing for a new album and a new era.
Eilish has been working on her new album, which will follow her 2019 debut When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, she explained that her forthcoming new music "feels exactly how I want it to." She added, "There isn’t one song, or one part of one song, that I wish was this or that I wish it was that."
FINNEAS also said of the new album, that it's "a continuation of Billie's life story."
While no other details have been shared about Billie's new album, it is expected to be released sometime this year.
