It's been a big week for Keith Urban! The country star released his brand new album Graffiti U, and brought some of his new music to the 2018 iHeartCountry Festival, including a special surprise for fans.
Keith performed a lot of new music from his new album, but he also included some songs from previous records like his Miranda Lambert collaboration "We Were Us" from Fuse. But instead of bringing out Miranda to sing her part, Urban invited Maren Morris (who was rocking a Texas football jersey) to perform with him, who performed her own set earlier in the night. Keith explained to the crowd, "We want to do something a little special tonight."
Other fan favorites that were included in Keith's set were "Blue Ain't Your Color" (Ripcord) and "Wasted Time" (Ripcord), which he closed his set out with. But Urban also performed several more new Graffiti U tracks like "Texas Time" -- fitting considering he performed in Austin, TX! -- and his Julia Michaels collab "Coming Home." Although Julia couldn't be there in person to perform the song with Keith, during her part, a video of her singing the song appeared on the screen above the stage.
Keith recently celebrated the release of Graffiti U during his iHeartCountry Album Release Party in Los Angeles, where he performed a lot of his new music live, and got candid about the making of the record. The country star explained of his new album:
"I hope the record makes everyone feel the way I felt when I was making it ... I've had a blast making the [album] … it’s a very summer record. It’s up and built to be performed live."
Hosted by Bobby Bones and Candace Cameron Bure, this year's iHeartCountry Festival included performances from superstar country artists including Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Dustin Lynch, Cole Swindell, Maren Morris, Sugarland, Luke Combs, Billy Currington, Dan + Shay, Jon Pardi and Brett Young.
Country fans will be able to relive the best moments from the show during a special TV broadcast on Sunday, August 5th at 8pm ET/PT on FOX. The two-hour show will showcase never-before-seen collaborations, behind-the-scenes interviews with the artists, as well as guest appearances by Gavin DeGraw, Jana Kramer, Sam Palladio, Josh Henderson, Danielle Bradbery, Ryan Hurd and cast members from FOX’s hit drama, THE GIFTED.
