The world is standing still.
Streets are empty, cafés and bistros are absent the sounds of life and people are sheltering in place anxious and full of fear amidst a global pandemic.
When there is fear and panic, hope is at a premium and few things can instill peace and hope like the power of music. If you were like Glenn and the 28 million plus that tuned in yesterday, Andrea Bocelli performed a "chilling" concert to an empty Duomo cathedral of Milan Easter Sunday via YouTube.
"He's standing in the middle of the main square in Milan. It's completely deserted and as he's singing," Glenn said on radio Monday. "They take different shots of different cities... and every place is just empty. They show footage all over the world of these major cities with no one on these streets. It was, in some ways, I felt it was like a little — almost a mini Super Bowl event, where the world was trapped in their houses and millions around the world were watching this event. And all of us inside."
Glenn was admittedly a "little late to the party" on the brilliance of the international music icon but this stirring rendition of Amazing Grace to close out the concert will have you a little misty eyed.
