Comedian and host of 'The Rubin Report', Dave Rubin, joined Glenn Beck in the studio today to discuss, among other topics, the backlash from "Roseanne" fans who are calling for HBO to fire "Real Time" host Bill Maher, citing the comedian's jokes that compare President Trump to an orangutan.
ABC canceled "Roseanne" shortly after its star, Roseanne Barr, posted a tweet that said former President Obama's aide Valerie Jarrett is like the "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby." Barr initially apologized for the tweet, but later began
retweeting messages from her fans who are wondering why Maher was able to make similar jokes about Trump without losing his job.
"He's basically the last sane liberal in mainstream …."
Dave didn't agree with the idea of "the mob" going after Bill Maher. "He's basically the last sane liberal in mainstream," he said. "He's fighting leftism from within itself. So you need that, you need that, because if that doesn't exist, then this thing really spins out of control. This is where I would caution my conservative friends and say, yeah, it kinda sucks that these double standards exist, but be careful you don't become the very thing that you hate. We all have to watch out for that … don't get seduced by the mob, it's very powerful. I know the power of it because I was part of it for a long time."
