Long Beach Mayor Confirms $4 ‘Hero Pay’ Bump for Grocery Store Employees

Earlier today Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia confirmed that he had signed a "hero pay" increase for the city's grocery store employees.

According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, The Long Beach City Council voted to approve the ordinance on Tuesday. The new ordinance will require grocers with at least 300 employees nationwide and more than 15 employees in Long Beach, to provide their employees with an extra $4 per hour in hazard pay.

“You have earned this hero pay,” Mayor Garcia tweeted. “Thank you for your hard work.”
