Uber has come under fire lately for various security concerns and now it looks like they are trying to ensure safety of both drivers and riders.
Uber has plans to roll out a new feature that will record the audio from both passengers and riders during a trip.
The new feature will roll out in Brazil and Mexico in December, where passengers will be able to retrieve the audio from a trip once it ends.
The rider can then send the audio to Uber and it can be used for investigating an incident. The audio can also be shared with law enforcement.
"Laws in the United States around consent to being recorded can vary from state to state, but we hope to be able to make this available nationally," an Uber executive explained in an email sent to The Washington Post.
