Before Pearl Jam There Was "Mother Love Bone"

Before Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, and Mike McCready formed the band Pearl Jam, they were part of the upstart Seattle band Mother Love Bone.

On the even of what would be their major debut on the scene with their debut album, lead singer Andy Wood would pass away from a drug overdose and the band came to a halt. While working with Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell and drummer Matt Cameron on their spiritual tribute album Temple Of The Dog, the three would also come together with Eddie Vedder and create the new band Pearl Jam.

The legacy of Mother Love Bone has become one of the most storied in Seattle rock history and now the group's "Shine" EP and full-length debut "Apple" is getting a reissue on September 26. Both albums will be available on CD, vinyl, and limited-edition color vinyl variants, as well as a limited-edition, remastered Japan-exclusive mini-LP/SHM-CD that includes both the Shine and Apple, available on October 10.
