Am I The A****le? The popular Reddit Forum asks users to decide who was right and who was wrong. One user wrote that they recently went into a shop to get a tattoo. The tattoo was very sentimental to the OP - It was a replica of a family photo. "It was one my dad had gotten to honor my passed grandfather whose father also had it. But the point is - it was important to me that the tattoo looked EXACTLY as it did in the photo."

Initially, OP was very pleased with their tattoo. When they went to show their great-grandmother their new ink, she noticed something peculiar. "She's static, grabs my arm to look at and compliment it, then asks, 'Who's AJ?' ... and she points out on the tattoo where the initials A and J or maybe T were hidden into the tattoo." While their great-grandmother assured them that it wasn't a big deal, they decided to reach out to the artist - Alice Trever.

Alice didn't seem to understand what the issue was. "They told me the style of art I got is called traditional and it's "pretty trad" for all artists who do that style to do it." When OP requested a partial refund, Alice refused, so they complained to the owner who decided that the customer deserved a full refund." After which, the artist was not too happy and threatened to move shops.

Many users, however; felt that OP was in the right. They got voted as "Not the Ah*le" and many users were very sympathetic. One user commented "They kind of branded you with their initials they should get fired" and another said that it is "conventionally understood" that tattoo artists do not sign their work because their canvas is human.
