Actress Lorna Raver has died at the age of 81, best known for her role in the 2009 horror film Drag Me to Hell, has died at the age of 81, according to SAG-AFTRA's Summer 2025 magazine edition published on Monday (August 11).

Raver died on May 12, however, her death wasn't revealed publicly until being included in the magazine's "In Memoriam" section this week along with Cheers actor George Wendt, Beach Boys singer-songwriter Brian Wilson and others. No additional details were made available and Raver's cause of death wasn't publicly disclosed as of Wednesday (August 13).

The actress' rep, Michael Greene, shared a statement to the New York Post following news of her death being shared publicly.

“She will now fly in Heaven, not be dragged to Hell,” Green said referencing her signature role. “She was an incredible lady and artist. A true chameleon, the complete opposite of this character in real life.”

Raver portrayed Mrs. Sylvia Ganush in the 2009 film Drag Me to Hell opposite Alison Lohman and Justin Long, directed by Sam Raimi, 19 years after making her big screen debut in Dana Carvey's Opportunity Knocks.

While I knew of [Raimi’s] work from other films, I was so ignorant of the whole horror genre that I had never even heard of the ‘Evil Dead,’” Raver said in author Jason Norman's 2014 book Welcome to Our Nightmares: Behind the Scene With Today’s Horror Actors via the New York Post. “I was definitely interested in doing it because of Sam Raimi, but I was not fully aware of exactly what I was getting into until it happened,” she added.
