Angie Ward's Superhero Kid! Emery Overcomes Adversity For YouTube

Angie Ward and Emery

In July of 1967 Neal Armstrong became the first man to walk on the Moon and every kid in America wanted to be an Astronaut! In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing this month, a new Harris poll asked kids between eight and 12 years old what they want to be when they grow up. Astronaut is still on the list but......

"YouTuber" was Number One! The rest of the top five are: Teacher . . . pro athlete . . . musician . . . and astronaut.

Ironically, my 4-year-old Emery already says she wants to be a YouTuber and she's not even in the demo yet! In fact, above is one of her first "How To" YouTube Videos from when she was 3-year-old, "How To Wash My Baby!"

This video is even more special when you know the back story of Emery. She was born with a full cleft lip and palate. She has endured double digit surgeries over her 4 short years and has grown stronger and more courageous with each one. We were told after her last round of surgeries that it might affect her speech or even take her ability to talk away completely. The doctors and staff at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta are amazing! She still has several surgeries to go, but being the Superhero she is, I am sure she will conquer those just like she has before...like one tough little diva!

Not only is this video an adorable little 3-year-old having fun with her baby doll, it's also a video showing a strong, fearless little girl who has refused to let adversity keep her from doing something she loves....TALKING!
