Dodgers' Joe Kelly Calls Houston Astros Players 'Snitches' And 'Rats'

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly blasted the Houston Astros for how they handled the investigation into their sign-stealing scheme. Kelly, who was suspended for eight games after throwing at Alex Bregman and Carlos Correa last month, said he is angry that the players ratted out their teammates and coaches after being promised immunity from punishment.

Kelly vented his anger on Big Swing Podcast, which hosted by his teammate, Ross Stripling. He felt it was ridiculous that the coaches and team executives took the fall for the actions of the players.

"The people who took the fall for what happened is nonsense," Kelly said. "Yes, everyone is involved. But the way that [sign-stealing system] was run over there was not from coaching staff... They're not the head boss in charge of that thing. It's the players. So now the players get the immunity, and all they do is go snitch like a little b----, and they don't have to get fined, they don't have to lose games."

He said that the players should have at least called to apologize to some of the people who suspended, such as former Red Sox manager Alex Cora, who Kelly played for in 2018.

"Maybe they have called AC (Cora) and said, 'Hey, I'm sorry.' Or called (former Astros General Manager Jeff)Luhnow and said, 'Hey, I'm sorry.' Or called (former Astros manager A.J) Hinch, and (former Mets manager Carlos) Beltran," Kelly said. "… If they had said, 'Hey, I'm super scared, I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to lose money, I had to rat.'… Grow a pair of balls and say that."

The podcast was recorded before his suspension was reduced to five games comes following an appeal. Listen to the entire interview below!
