Halsey Reacts To 'Without Me' Becoming Her First No. 1 As A Lead Artist

Halsey celebrated her first number one as a standalone artist, and second in her career this week.

The singer-songwriter's latest smash hit "Without Me," which was met with high praises upon its release in October 2018, officially topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Billboard reported on Monday (January 7). The record, which sees its placement on the January 12-dated chart today, dethrones Ariana Grande's post-breakup anthem "Thank U, Next," which has maintained No. 1 status for seven consecutive weeks since its arrival in November.

Upon learning the exciting news, the 24-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate.

"#1 on billboard. wow. very overwhelmed and confused and so very very very VERY happy. this song came from a very lonely place, and brought me to one of the most loved and supported moments of my lifetime," she wrote in a post. "This achievement is completely beyond my means of comprehending right now so I’ll get back to you guys when I find more eloquent and compelling things to say. Right now my brain is a washing machine of emotion. On a very high cycle. I love you very much."

Showing no hard feelings and nothing but love, Grande congratulated her friend's achievement on Instagram with a shout-out. "F**k it up @iamhalsey," she wrote on her Instagram Stories. "To girls on top all 2019."

As mentioned previously, "Without Me" marks Halsey's second number one achievement. Her collab with The Chainsmokers, "Closer," had a 12-week run atop the chart from September to November 2016.
