Miley Cyrus' Wedding Had To Be Changed Due To Tragedy

As we're sure you've heard by now, Miley Cyrus formally tied the knot with her longtime fiancé Liam Hemsworth on Sunday (December 23) in an intimate wedding ceremony. After much speculation, the "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" singer finally confirmed the joyous news in a tweet along with images from their secret nuptials.

Despite the newlyweds' floral dreamlike wedding spot — reportedly at their home in Franklin, Tennessee — the location was more or less last-minute as they intended to marry in Malibu before tragedy struck when they lost compound to the California wildfires last month.

"They had planned to get married in Malibu over the holidays when all of their families were together," a source told PEOPLE. "After their Malibu house didn’t make the fire, they have been living at Miley’s Tennessee house."

The duo was among several celebrities in the SoCal area whose properties were affected by the uncontrollable fires which also destroyed the homes of Robin Thicke, Camille Grammer, Gerald Butler, and several others.

"I’m in a really good healing place right now," Cyrus said of the tragedy on On Air with Ryan Seacrest earlier this month. "I definitely learned a lot. My dad [Billy Ray Cyrus] has always told me 'Life is a series of adjustments' … I’m starting to really understand what that means now experiencing something as life-changing and devastating as a natural disaster. It’s a really deep character challenge to see the way you react to loss."

Despite the ordeal, the songstress and Australian actor have been relying on the strength and support of their respective family members, who were all present to witness the couple's private marriage.
