Every Single One Of Rihanna's Met Gala Looks

Admit it: Every year you’re here for the Met Gala fashion (What will Kylie wear? What will Kim wear? What will Gaga wear?) But most importantly, what on God’s green earth will Rihanna wear? IT COULD BE ANYTHING (within the event’s theme, of course). Rihanna started attending in 2007, but missed a few years here and there due to touring and other obligations.

Check out all of Rihanna’s Met Gala looks below.

1. 2007 - “Poiret: King of Fashion”

According to W, Rihanna wore a Georges Chakra gown to her first Met Gala. The white dress was understated, particularly in comparison to Rihanna's more recent over-the-top Met Gala looks.

2. 2009 - “The Model as the Muse”

Rihanna went with a sleek black Dolce & Gabbana suit and bow tie, complete with matching black stilettos here. Also, the slicked-back hair (with just a hint of tiny blonde highlights) make Rihanna seem more badass than ever.

3. 2011 - “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”

Interesting how RiRi now has two of her own lines seemingly named after this year’s theme: “FentyXSavage” and “Fenty Beauty.” Right? This year, Rihanna’s red-hair era matched the red carpet (so on-brand), and she glowed in an over-layed, one-shoulder black sparkler.

4. 2012 - “Elsa Schiaparelli: Impossible Conversations”

According to Vogue, “Rihanna wore a Tom Ford autumn/winter 2012-13 backless gown with Christian Louboutin heels.” We def see the Prada influence here with that faux reptilian vibe.

5. 2014 - “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”

RiRi wore a form-fitting, brilliant white Stella McCartney crop top and gown to to the Met Gala in 2014.

6. 2015 - “China Through the Looking Glass”

So far, no costume has outnumbered Rihanna’s 2015 Met Gala gown, where she looked like an absolute empress in that canary-yellow train. Designer Gou Pe said “only women who have the confidence of a queen could wear it,” according to Elle.

7. 2017 - “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art Of The In-Between”

Rihanna wearing Comme des Garcons was the obvious choice this year — but as W Magazine pointed out, less than 10 celebs actually did. Of course, Rihanna’s pick had to be the most vibrant.

8. 2018 - “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”

Does the Pope wear Louboutins? Rihanna went all out in full-out, papal regalia — donning everything from “bloody shoes,” as Cardi B dubbed ‘em, to an eye-popping, bejeweled robe. Plus, a matching mitre (you know, the “Pope hat”) and a matching clutch. Rih took the theme to the max, and really, would we expect anything less from her?!

9. 2021- "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion"

Despite being the last star to arrive, Rihanna's Met Gala ensemble in 2021 was worth the wait. She appeared on the carpet in a billowing black Balenciaga gown adorned with an extravagant, dazzling BVLGARI diamond collar.
