BANNED: YouTube BANS dangerous pranks + challenges!

BANNED!

Say goodbye to dangerous pranks and challenges going viral.

Videos depicting "dangerous challenges and pranks" will no longer be allowed on YouTube. The company created the ban in response to harmful or distressing viral challenges, like the “Bird Box” challenge.

Inspired by the Netflix film of the same name, YouTubers began to perform common tasks while blindfolded including driving cars, which led one Utah teen to crash into oncoming traffic. Users who violate the ban will have their videos removed and a "strike" set against them, limiting what they can do for 90 days.

The video site had already pulled the Tide Pods challenge videos because of the dangerous factor, but left some Kiki Challenge vids up. Oh, don’t try to link outside videos to Youtube if they break the rules, you’ll get a strike against you and be limited too.

#TobysTake: We live in a world where, unfortunately, people live... to go viral. They feel that to be validated, they have to find some sort of verification in views, likes, shares... whatever. I get it. Research shows that all of this "stuff" is just like snorting a line of cocaine, which is just slightly addictive, right? Well, for companies like Google and YouTube to make this move is a good thing... because if you remove the ability for someone to get "high" so-to-speak... you force someone to actually live. And that... is a good thing. So here's to living a life where these dumb challenges aren't what we're forced to talk about... and where people actually respect themselves enough as people who don't need to go viral to live.
