Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the world's billionaires, and Amazon co-founder Jeff Bezos earned enough dough last year to launch him to the top of the list.
The 54-year-old is estimated to be worth $127 billion. That's $22 billion more than Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who had previously held the top spot for three straight years. But don't worry about Gates. Despite dropping to number-two, his net worth jumped from $75 billion to $90 billion. The other familiar names on the list include Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett at number-three, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg at number-five and Spanish fashion businessman Amancio Ortega at number-six.
Talk About It:
- Bezos, with more than $100 billion, is now what you'd call a centi-billionaire.
- Bezos is worth the combined wealth of 2.3 million Americans.
- Amazon had a very good year.
