  • This is Carrie Fisher's final movie. She died in December 2016.
  • Fisher reportedly helped with the writing of the Last Jedi script.
  • This is the first film in the series in which Kenny Baker did not play R2-D2. Baker died in August 2016.
  • There is a fan-made short called Star Wars: The Last Jedi from 2008.

  • The story was adapted by Walt Disney as a short animated film called Ferdinand the Bull in 1938.
  • The movie was made by Blue Sky Studios, whose credits include the Ice Age and Riomovies as well as the 2015 Peanuts Movie.
