FEDERAL WORKERS: Stage Protest to End Government Shutdown

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • Ironically, some of the federal workers not getting paid are those employed to keep the country safe.
  • It's definitely unfair for those workers to not to get paid because of this political stalemate.
  • Trump has said he'll shutdown the government for months, or even years, until he gets his wall.

Hundreds of furloughed federal workers and out-of-work contractors are mad as hell and took to the streets of downtown Washington Thursday to protest on the 20th day of the partial government shutdown.

The workers and contractors, who feel like "pawns" trapped in a tug-of-war between President Trump and Democrats, called for an end to the shutdown so they can get back to work and get paid.

One such employee, 36-year-old Amand Desai, who works as auditor for the IRS, said, "I want our politicians to get to the table and work out a meaningful plan. They need to just solve it and stop using federal workers and the services as a bargaining chip."

Officials from the National Federation of Federal Employees wanted to bring the plight of federal workers to the White House to show Trump who's suffering the most from the shutdown, but he wasn't there. Trump left earlier on Thursday to visit the U.S.-Mexico border.  (The Washington Post)
