Couple Marries 3 Years After Meeting In An Uber

Uber Makes Second Attempt To Grow In Germany

Have you ever gotten into an Uber and had such a great conversation that you were tempted to get the number of the driver?

Well, it hasn't happened for me because, you know, I'm married and all. But for one couple who just got married, in an Uber is where it aaaaall began. And the story is so sweet - in such a strange way - that I just had to share.

Micaela O’Toole and Jared Thomas first met when Jared got into Micaela's Uber back in September 2016. Jared was heading to a music festival near where Micaela was going to school, and he got into the car with his relatives.

Jared got in the front seat and the pair talked the entire ride, but both didn't know what to do when the ride came to an end.

“You could tell there was a connection. We got to the end of the ride and it was an awkward moment where we both looked at each other,” Jared said while talking to PEOPLE. “I didn’t wanna be the creepy guy asking for my Uber driver’s number, and she didn’t wanna be the creepy Uber driver asking for my number. I just choked under pressure.”

So the two went their separate ways that day... only to have fate step in a couple weeks later when they matched on Bumble and Micaela immediately messaged him, recalling driving him and his friends to a music festival.

They went on their first date the NEXT DAY, and a week after, Micaela called her mom and told her she had met the man she was going to marry.

They got engaged in June 2017, and got married last month.

Micaela said that Uber was supportive of their story, too:

“Our wedding hashtag was #UbertotheAltar. Uber was kind enough to give us a promo code for our wedding guests... All of our guests were able to Uber to the church for free!”

I mean, I guess you never know who you're going to meet, right?!
