For night three of his weeklong residency on the Late Late Show with James Corden, Shawn Mendes took the stage to perform "Like to Be You," his new duet with Julia Michaels off his recently-released self-titled LP.
For the almost-three-minute performance, the pair sat on stools in the middle of a small stage as they faced one another and gently crooned the somber duet. With the camera circling them for the entire number, the pop stars were just inches away from each other, with Shawn providing the instrumentation on guitar. "I don't know what it’s like to be you/ I don't know what it's like but I'm dying to/ If I could put myself in your shoes/ Then I'd know what it's like to be you," the pair crooned collectively during the hook. "Like to Be You" was produced by John Mayer and serves as one of the two collaborations featured on his new LP. Khalid appears on "Youth," which was performed at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards in May.
Elsewhere in the episode, the 19-year-old pop star showed off his comedy chops when he stepped behind a turntable to play DJ Stitches for a subway platform "cover battle" with Corden. Scroll on below to see all of Mendes' appearances on the Wednesday night episode!
